The Dress
A truly breath-taking and romantic gown, this is reluctantly sold as I have no space for storage and would rather it didn't just sit in a loft, but rather had the chance to be worn - and loved - again. Johanna Hehir is an exclusive British designer who only produces wedding gowns and evening dress, and this came from her Chiltern Street atelier in London.
Made-to-measure (although I am a very standard UK 8, it has a 32 inch chest, 24 inch waist and 34 inch hips) from purest Italian duchesse silk (so it isn't shiny/satiny but has a beautiful natural soft 'glow') it features a wrap-around bodice for flattering effect with a sweetheart neckline and a belt with an exquisite crystal embellished Art-Deco clasp to frame the waist.
The skirt begins to fill out from the hips downwards into a soft 'trumpet' shape with gentle godets at the front to create a 'picked-up' effect similar to Vivienne Westwood's trademark silhouette. **I should also mention that the dress itself is named 'Scarlett', but was actually Johanna's interpretation of the 'Carrie' Westwood wedding dress worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in the Sex & The City movie. I am 5'5" and wore 3" inch heels with it, but it could easily be shortened or lengthened by a good seamstress.
It is incredibly comfortable, just needing a soft hooped petticoat (included) to keep its fuller shape - you don't really need to wear a bra as it features a soft interior corset, but it had space enough for me to wear a delicate strapless one. I took it to a professional dry-cleaner the day after the wedding so it is in pristine condition, and has been stored away from light in a closet so it has kept its shape perfectly. The back fastens with silk-covered buttons and features a generous train - which can be tied up with ribbons within the skirt so you can move/dance easily as the day progresses...
Viewings welcome - evenings are best, but I can accommodate other times, too. I originally paid £3,200 for it (I still have the receipt so I can shock myself!) so you will be getting a genuine piece of British handmade semi-couture for a bargain price.
None.
