The Dress

Finally decided to part with this dress after tidying wardrobes whilst on maternity leave and realising it hadn't been worn since the day of the wedding and would likely not be put on again. I felt it needed to be enjoyed by someone else rather than stay hanging out of sight!
The dress is tulle and floor length. I am 156 cm and wore 1 inch heels on the day (can be seen in photos of me walking to ceremony with my bridesmaids).
The dress size is a UK 14, however it was altered to fit me as a size 10/12 (10/12 on top, 12 waist down). There were some fairly substantial alterations to the front top of the dress. The waistband was made a lot narrower and nearly all the beading removed from the waistband. Significant amounts of beading were removed from top front of the dress. The dressmaker doing the alterations said how brides-to-be usually asked for more sparkle and beads to be added and not taken away, so these changes may not be to everyone's taste but it would be fairly easy to add them back on if desired.
The dress has a lace shawl with 3/4 length sleeves. It was this that sold it to me! I had a spring wedding so it offered more coverage to keep me warm on the day, and when I saw the pattern and beading on the back of the shawl, with the buttons down to the base of the spine, I knew it was the dress for me.
