The Dress

My wedding was 1 year ago now, and I was fortunate enough to have my wedding dress customised to me so I could have my dream wedding dress! My vision for the dress was ball gown but not too big and Disney princess vibes. I grew up with Disney and am an adult Disney fan, so I knew this is what I wanted since I was a little girl. I knew I wanted an off the shoulder with sweetheart neckline to flatter by body size and breasts as I have small breasts. I am a little extra, so I also wanted glitter and dazzle, so my dressmaker added an extra layer of tule with glitter to make me shine throughout the night! There was also a touch of elegance with pearls handsewn into the flowers of the dress which I absolutely adored as a finishing touch. This made it easy for me to match my jewellery as I wore pearl earrings, necklace, and bracelet as well as a pearl headpiece. I truly felt like a Disney princess and couldn’t have been happier with my dress and would love to share this dress with another lucky bride!

This dress took approximately 8 months to make from start - finish from my first initial appointment to my final fitting appointment. The dress was handmade and the time, care and love the dressmakers put into this dress is truly evident in the final result.

As the dress has a corset back, the measurements of your bust/waist do not need to be exact to fit this dress as the dress could be adjusted to suit your body. As it is a ball gown dress, your hips measurements do not matter too much either. I chose a corset back as I was trying really hard to lose weight for the wedding but wasn’t sure how much weight I could lose. My seamstress recommended a corset back to give flexibility for me if I couldn’t lose as much weight as I wanted too. I was approximately a size AU8-10 (depending on the brand) around my wedding period so that gives a rough indication of size.

I am also including my veil with the dress as I feel it is the perfect match. The veil is simple with no extra features to not take away the beauty from the actual dress. The veil has an extra-long train to compliment the dress and it looks beautiful for walking down the aisle and in photos. The veil can also be worn as a blusher veil to cover your face as you walk down the aisle before you meet your fiancé.

The dress has been professional dry cleaned immediately after my wedding to ensure all stains were able to be removed. It is in immaculate condition as I have only worn it once during the wedding day. I had a second dress which I got changed in the evening for my first dance to allow me to easily move and dance in. This means I did not wear the wedding dress for whole night during the reception and the after party, so this dress is in excellent condition as I only wore it for the ceremony, wedding photos and the start of the reception.
