The Dress

"The Gershwin" is a beautiful dress from the well known designer Johanna Johnson's 2013 collection, made from quality French lace.

I spent months searching for my wedding dress, and this dress stood out above all the others. The design is very unique and hard to come by, and for me it was exactly what I was looking for and it certainly didn't disappoint on the day - I had heaps of compliments about the dress, with everyone commenting on its beautiful simplicity.

The overlay is made entirely of ivory French lace, while the underlay is silk. The dress features delicate cap lace sleeves, a stunning low v-neck back and a v-neck front. It also has sewn in padded cups so that the dress can be worn without a bra.

The dress fit perfectly and would fit a size 6-10 well (I am a size 6-8); the heaviness of the material means that the dress is loose fitting yet gives a slim look, and the cut would work well with both thin and slightly curvy body types. It is also extremely comfortable, which to me was very important, considering I had to spend upwards of 12 hours in the dress on a hot day.

I am 5"3 and in the photos I am wearing 10 cm heels. As you can see in the photos, there is a reasonable amount of train, so a taller person wouldn't have any issues with length.

Please note that I made a (reversible) modification to the dress: The v-neck at the front has been professionally stitched up slightly, as it was originally very low cut (almost to the belly button) and loose fitting. This means that the dress is more close-fitting at the front section, which I preferred. However, the stitches can be easily unpicked if you prefer the original style.

The dress is in perfect condition and has been professionally dry-cleaned.I am also including the veil in the price, which I purchased separately for $60 and which matches with the dress beautifully, in both colour and style.
