The Dress
Bought from Paperswan bride in NZ (picked up in mid January 2018)
Sadly having to part ways with my beautiful Anya gown! The only way I justified spending so much was planning to resell it and as much as I would love to hold onto it it’s definitely wasted sitting in a closet. I was hoping to get this dress from stillwhite originally but sadly just missed out on my size to another bride. The dress is honestly in immaculate condition, I would have been wrapt to get buy it in this condition when I needed it! It is actually probably better than some of the brand new ones as I was super picky and sent back my first dress because it was not as heavily sequinned as I wanted (there is some differing between dresses due to them all being hand sequinned.) This cost also includes the altered Geniveve overlay which I wore for the ceremony and some photos and then removed for the reception. You obviously don’t have to wear it but I highly recommend keeping it as an option.
I took my dress to a dry cleaner in Wellington recommended to me by my seamstress as they deal with a lot of high end wedding dresses but they didn’t want to touch it because they said it was already in such good condition it was not worth the risk of the silk shrinking
The dress is the stock size 8 and has not been altered at all in the fit but has been shortened slightly at the front (nothing has been taken off the train) for my height 170cm + 10cm heels
Also a ribbon and loophole has been sewn in to allow the train to be bustled inside (rather than on the outside which I hated the look of) so you can dance, this was an absolute life-saver to not have to lose the beautiful train and still be able to let loose on the dancefloor.
The Genevieve overlay was altered as I didn’t like how it was from the back and now seamlessly matches the front without having a messy looking split (you will be able to see the difference if you google photos and compare) which gives it a much cleaner look and falls so much nicer!
Also I still have a bag of the spare sequins which came with the dress originally incase you require alterations needing extra sequins or want to add some to your veil or a hair clip or anything (quite a cool idea my dress maker suggested)
