This is a Berta Dress that comes in 2 parts. The dress itself is low cut with light shear fabric over the breast (holds everything in and makes it look classy). The straps are beaded with pearls - which is a seriously beautiful touch. The main dress has a small train, which I bustled - that's what you're seeing in the pictures. Then there is a skirt that attaches made of lace that is embroidered at the ends. The skirt is easy to attach (takes about 2 minutes) and cascades down your legs and is long in the back, creating a train. I kept the skirt attached for my first round of pictures and the ceremony and then took it off for the reception and my sunset pictures.
**note: The bobbypins you see in that first photo were just there to indicate where the notches were to hook the skirt. They aren't actually part of the dress ;)
The best part about the dress in the immaculate detail - the beads, the lace - it looks like a princess gown. Underneath the top later of the main dress is a light gold fabric with little sequins all over. You don't really see this, but it adds some shimmer to the dress in the right lighting, which makes the dress look even more glamorous.
I wanted a dress that was easy to move and dance in and this was perfect. It wasn't heavy and it was super easy to dance all night in!
I've had the dress professionally cleaned and it will be ready in November.
I ordered the smallest size that Berta makes and it fit pretty perfectly. I am 5'2'' but I wore 5'' heels, so the dress was hemmed for that height. The bust was taken in slightly, but other than that they didn't have to do much. These were my measurements at the time of the fitting: B- 31.5", W- 23.5", H- 33.5".
There was a small horizontal tear (1.5 inches) in the main dress on the bottom - probably close to the calf. I didn't even see it because it was hidden when I bustled the dress. The wedding dress preserver/cleaner said it wouldn't be an issue to fix. So I imagine it's not noticeable, but I can take pictures when I get the dress back in November.
The dress was in great condition after the wedding and I handed it over to the wedding dress preserver/cleaner just 4 days after the event, so there was little time for any potential dirt to settle in.
The price includes the $350 veil that I'm wearing in the photo that is in perfect condition.
