Megan & Nathan's White Wedding

After being friends for about six years, Megan took the flirting to the next level and went after what she wanted.

Five years later, on one absolutely brilliant night we took a limo ride around Manhattan, followed by a delectable degustation dinner at Restaurant Daniel, one of the best restaurants in the USA, and a horse and carriage ride through the glorious Central Park where Nathan brought the perfect evening to a perfect end by proposing to me!

I absolutely loved planning my wedding day. I'm a perfectionist so I spent at least five times longer than required deciding on details, but it resulted in the perfect wedding day. I had a scrap book and I pasted in pictures that I liked from magazines. This helped me theme my wedding. I particularly like The Knot magazine because it has a lot of unique ideas from the US.

Our wedding was held at the picturesque Maleny Manor in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland in Queensland. The weather can be a little uncertain in the hinterland but on 11 May the skies were blue, the view was crystal clear and the temperature was just right. They have a stunning ceremony pavilion and a gorgeous green lawn where the guests enjoyed champagne, canapés and croquet while we enjoyed some time on our own having our wedding photos. The reception was held in the manor and was an intimate size for our 100 guests.

We didn’t have a bridal party, so the theme was elegant white. It’s amazing what you can do with such a simple colour and how hard it can be to choose between various white roses!!

I looked at so many bridal shops in Brisbane and nothing really stood out. There were so many designs that were so similar. I didn’t want a dress that I had seen on 100 other brides. Fortunately I had the opportunity to take a holiday in between jobs so I went to France with my Mum. On our last day in Paris I thought it would be fun to go wedding dress shopping - just for fun - not expecting to seriously buy anything - but of course that’s when I found "the one"! As soon as saw the dress - I hadn’t even tried it on yet - I knew it was the dress for me. Trust me to find a dress in Paris!! Then I had the issues of how to order it and get it to Australia. It was worth the stress! I still have never seen a dress as beautiful.

I recommend enjoying the wedding planning process. So many people can get overwhelmed with the amount of planning and become overly stressed and wish they were eloping, but trust me, it’s all worthwhile and you will be pleased with the hard work you put into the planning phase. I am currently pregnant so the proceeds from the sale of my dress will go towards buying baby furniture."

Thank you for sharing your wedding with us and big congratulations on the baby news!

Well the platform is ok, I really like the idea of it. The person who sold the dress was great and responsive but I also tried to buy a dress from someone else first who was not responsive.
