Flying to the Amalfi from North Carolina this bride was able to fold up her wedding dress, pop it in a ziplock bag and carry it in her handbag on the plane.
From the bride "Our idea of the perfect wedding meant travel, adventure, and just the two of us. We knew we wanted to visit Europe so after a few months of bouncing ideas about what country to get married in we settled on Italy. The moment I came across pictures of Ravello, Italy online I just knew this was going to be the perfect location. We wanted an outdoor wedding with a view and that is exactly what we got! The town, the setting, and the towns people could not have been more magical!
We kept it very simple. We had no guests, instead we held an “I Do BBQ” a few weeks before we left for Europe. On the day, after we dressed, Kevin and I walked through the town hand in hand, stopping for pictures along the way. Our wedding day was as casual and laid back as the two of us. We had an afternoon ceremony in the garden for just the two of us, our amazing photographer, and the officiant. That gave us the whole day to relax in the town square, drinking espressos and eating pizza. Yes, this bride ate pizza BEFORE her wedding ceremony!! I was in ITALY after all!
Choosing my dress I knew that I wanted something formfitting, comfortable, and easy to travel with. I’m very athletic and muscular (I’m a CrossFit gym owner, coach, and competitive women’s physique bodybuilder) so I knew that nothing with a side or back zip would ever fit me right without some serious alterations! My personal style is also boho/hippie and I loved the idea of a full lace dress. I came across the Grace Loves Lace website and quickly fell in love with this dress, the “Gisele”. The dress was way out of my budget so I started to hunt for a similar dress everywhere but with zero luck. The low back and fitted body is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to show off my “assets” and not feel like I was swimming in a ball gown.
I was also able to fold up this dress, put it in a ziplock bag, and carry it on the plane from North Carolina to Italy. And then I mailed it back home the day after the wedding in a small box!
With the money from selling my dress I might save up for baby clothes…. who knows!"
