The Dress
This is an Essense of Australia dress in ivory lace and cafe lustre satin. I bought this dress in July of 2016 (and so I assume it was made that year,) and wore it one time for my wedding in July 2017. It has been dry cleaned one time, since my wedding. I absolutely loved this dress. It has sequins and clear beading all over the entire dress, making it sparkly. It was very comfortable and easy to wear. I wanted a dress I could feel comfortable wearing all day while giving lots of hugs and dancing. I danced all night in this dress! It was light weight and easy to move in. Picture number five shows the details of the train. Picture number seven is a close up of the lace. Picture eight shows the details on the bodice. I am so happy to have the memories of wearing this dress on my wedding day and love to look at pictures to remember how beautiful it is. I feel it is just too beautiful to sit at the back of a closet and hope someone else will be able to enjoy it and feel as wonderful on their wedding day as I did on mine!
I was a street size 2 at the final alteration. I had a material added to the inside of the lace straps, that touched my shoulders, as the original material was very itchy and irritated my skin. The addition makes it very comfortable. The train was altered to remove the lustre satin that originally was the full length of the train. This left only the layer of lace for the train. I loved this because once the dress was bustled it was still very light and easy to move in. I also think that it shows off the beautiful details of the lace when the train is laid out. Picture number six, shows the two buttons on either side of the zipper that are used to bustle the train. These are then tucked under the lace pieces to hide them. The top button on the back requires a new elastic loop (this snapped during my wedding!) and can also bee seen in picture six. I had the dress dry cleaned one time and do notice a change to the color of the lace. It appears more white and less ivory since the cleaning.
