The Dress

DETAILS:
For sale is this exquisite two piece set, by Australian bridal house Marquise Bridal.

Purchased at uber cool Sydney boutique Hope X Page, this was the absolute chicest i felt, during any try-on appointments i made, anywhere.

On the day, i felt completely invincible; the perfect balance between cool and classic. Now i wish to pass it on to another bride who will get just as many compliments as i received, if not more!

Both items were purchased in a size 10, but were then altered through a tailor to fit me perfectly (as i lost a bit of weight between picking the garments up and the actual day itself).As you can see the bodice and skirt both fit like a glove, and so it may be best to reference my measurements to give you a better indication of fit, as "size 10" is quite a broad term. My measurements are:
Bust: 86cm D cup (i did not wear a bra)
True waist (up high): 73cm
Hip: 100cm

CONDITION:
The bodice is in perfect condition. No rips, tears or actual damage was made to either piece on the day. The two pieces were detailed by Sydney renowned dry cleaners Bridal Silver service, for a spruce up. The skirt has one tiny mark still on it at about hip level, so i have taken $300 off the asking price so you can have the skirt re-cleaned if you desire.

THE BODICE:
Both items are a divine stretch silk crepe.
The bodice has a concealed centre back zip which is a special invisible style which cannot be seen. There are buttons up the back of the top which are purely decorative. The bodice is fully boned so no need for a bra at all, it is so supportive even on a D size bust. As you can see the front features the most unique draped detail that drapes over the bust and then off the shoulders. The neckline is slightly sweetheart, but can be made more sweet heart shaped as i had the tailor lift the peak of the sweetheart a little bit to show less cleavage. This alteration can be reversed quite easily due to the way it has been done for me, as the tailor was nervous i would change my mind so she made it able to be undone.

THE SKIRT:
Silk crepe fabric with a bit of give, fully lined to the hem. The silhouette is best described as figure hugging due to the beautiful movement of the fabric. It is a floor length skirt with a train (I am 172cm, and wore 10cm heels). You can see in the pics, it was a figure hugging silhouette down to about the hip, and then didn't cling further down from that. The train is about 1.2 metre-ish, and has a loop to allow you to grab the train onto your wrist when it's time to boogie. The skirt has a split on the left leg, up to about mid thigh- which you can see in the side-on pic. The split was so elegant, and not at all over the top, but was just the right amount of sexy when walking. The split in the press photos i grabbed off the website show a high split (up to high thigh) which mine does not have. The split can be raised higher though, as it was raised for me.
The skirt is a high waisted fit, with a zip up the back.

STYLING:
I wore the top "tucked in" to the skirt, so the skirt waistband was over the top of the bodice. Many people though this was a gown, as you did not see any midriff by wearing it this way. Otherwise, you could put the top over the skirt waistband, which means that as you move, the top exposes a bit of your midriff. Or if you're taller than me, you would be able to see a sliver of tummy anyway as the two pieces won't quite meet each other.

The pieces are the exact same fabric in the exact same shade of white, so your styling options are endless and the look is super modern. This is definitely a contemporary look!

ALTERATIONS:
The pieces are truly easy to alter- i had the bodice (full boned) taken in, and the sweetheart lifted (this can be reversed, don't forget). I had the hip of the skirt taken in, the split raised higher, and the hem taken up.
Don't be put off if you think you'll need alterations on it, i can recommend you the person who altered it for me as they did a sensational job.

*Please note the items have been through a $400 dry cleaning treatment, which is reflective of the asking price. While all elements of the outfit are perfectly white, there is just one tiny mark on the skirt at about hip level. I do believe that with another clean, the mark would come out so i have taken another $300 off the asking price for anyone who would wish to buy and then have it re-cleaned.
