The Dress

I fell in love with this dress the first time I tried it on. For anyone who knows me, its not the dress they would have seen me in, it was simplistic elegance at its best. I am more inclined to fashion that is over-the-top but when I put the dress on at the final fitting, I didn't feel like a princess, I felt like a queen.

This gown has only been worn once, which was at my fitting. My partner and I decided to elope on the beach in Hawaii and the dress just didn't fit the scene. I have to admit, I am a little regretful that I didn't wear it anyway, but in the end I know someone will get the same pleasure I did the first day I tried it on.

I believe the gown was part of Justin Alexander's previous Fall collections. I have included some pictures of the original model shoot for your consideration. The highlight of this gown is definitely the cathedral train with silver crystal buttons tracing all the way down from the bodice. Although, having the heavy satin material draped over a full ballgown skirt, gives it a demanding presence. Adding to this, is the rich ivory colouring combined with the hand sewn silver beaded crystals around the sweetheart neckline. The beading is not over the top. Its just enough to capture the eye without taking the focus away from you. The dress comes with a matching silver beaded crystal belt and it was suggested that going without a necklace softened the look, allowing the neckline and waistline to standout.

I did have a few extra layers added in underneath to add volume and the dress is hemmed for a 5 foot 2" (160cm) girl with 4" heels. The dress is in perfect condition, having remained locked up from the world for the past 12 months. I have considered giving it a light steam clean, however I will wait to consider how the new owner will want to proceed.
