The Dress

I got engaged in September 2014 and we early on decided we wanted a 1920s/Gatsby themed day. I'm quite pale so I also wanted a lightly coloured dress to enhance my English Rose colouring.

As if by chance, I was on a work trip in the United States in October 2014 and was very lucky to find THE DRESS in a Nieman Marcus department store on my day off. UK size 14 was the only size they had in stock and it fitted perfectly (I have a 78cm waist and 98cm bust). (Needless to say I woke up my mum and best friend with the good news!!)

This is a beaded pale grey tulle and silk sheath dress from the Jenny Packham Fall/Autumn 2014 catwalk wedding collection, inspired by the Belle Epoque era. Covered with emroidered silver sequins and beads, and diamante gems at the waist to emphasise hourglass silouette.

The glamourous shape and details worked a treat on the day, and the beading looked great in photos.

I'm 5'7" so the sheath under-dress was altered by a tailor in London: shortened by an inch so it now just touches the floor when I'm in 2" heels.

Still very happily married to my husband and we recently celebrated our first anniversary. It made me realise how much happiness this dress gave me and hope I can pass this luck on to another couple. I'll have the memories for a lifetime after all!
