Large horsehair bow on the front of the gown is included and is removable. I also have a number of additional Vera Wang sashes available (including black horsehair with crystals, Ivory horsehair with crystals & plain grosgrain in both Ivory, black and mushroom). Genevieve is quite essential to what the Fall collection is about: a study in volume and asymmetry, from the unconventional sweetheart neckline, to the tension between the restrained, slender mermaid shape of the underskirt and the asymmetrical breadth of the peplum. Genevieve is a very romantic dress, it’s completely ethereal, and it also has a Modernist soul that will speak to the bride in search of a design that’s complex and artistic.

Genevieve starts with two foundational elements: a sophisticated, very fitted, angular bodice, with its asymmetrical wisp of tulle, and then a sexy, sleek mermaid gown at the base. These make up the base for the gown’s center of attention, which is the horsehair peplum overskirt that gives Genevieve that classic, flouncy ball gown shape. There’s a great deal of complexity in the layering of this peplum: it’s quite dynamic.

I like every dress I design to be multidimensional, always changing and offering a new perspective from every viewpoint. With Genevieve, I’ve made sure there’s never a dull angle. From the back the gown looks like a classic ball gown, but then when you see the front, it has a lot of attitude. The drama you get from the extra dimension of the peplum is something absolutely essential to this season’s collection: the dress should feel charged with a joyous, unrestrained energy, whether it’s in living motion, or standing still during the ceremony, or captured forever in a wedding day portrait.
