The Dress

Every bride should feel special on her wedding day. It was my great fortune to be able to wear a beautiful ‘bespoke’ couture wedding dress created especially for me by Suzanne Neville.
Suzanne Neville is one of Europe’s leading designers of bridal and evening wear. Her dresses are hand crafted and she is well known for beautifully constructed wedding gowns with structured bodices.
My dress was a bespoke design, made of ivory lace and silk chiffon and featuring elements from two dresses found in Suzanne Neville’s 2019 Lookbook collection. The Alicia and the Luella. I was able to combine the beautiful deep V lace neckline and bodice of the Alicia, incorporating long lace sleeves; with the floaty, elegant yet subtly sexy skirt of the Luella. The resulting effect – in my opinion – is a stunningly beautiful, timeless dress. From the minute I put the dress on I knew it would be easy to wear for the entire wedding day and it was. The skirt just flows and is light and easy to ‘swish’. The subtle slit – shown in the photographs – could be a lot higher – but I wasn’t that brave! Although I didn’t use them, there are also a few small finger-loops sewn into the hem of the train so that it can be lifted out of the way for walking or dancing.
I paid £4250 to have this dress made to measure for my wedding in June 2019. It was worth every penny. I would love to help another Bride-to-be have the opportunity of wearing such a gorgeous dress, but at a price that is perhaps more manageable and affordable. Any bride knows only too well how costs can quickly mount up and the dress has to be one of the single most expensive items.
So, if you are about 5ft [removed]ft 6”in height and usually wear a size 12-14, and want to inherit and own a thing of beauty, then this dress could be just right for you. I have provided some basic measurements with this description (*all approx. and I am not a seamstress so they will be far from exact) and I am of course happy to help with additional measurements for those that are seriously interested. I am sure some modifications could be made by a professional seamstress to make the dress a perfect fit for you.
I have not had the dress cleaned since wearing for my wedding; knowing that will be something the new owner will probably want to do for themselves once any alterations have been made. The train/dress hemline has seen the kind of wear you would expect from walking and dancing the night away. There is a small mark, I think from where I held my flowers close to me during photos, on the corset – left side – by the waist band.
Generally, and as I hope you will be able to see from the pictures, the dress is in exceptionally good condition – apart from where you would expect the dirt to show and that is on the hem. There are no signs of obvious wear inside the dress, in the bust/corset area or arms. If you were needing to shorten the dress, then you would potentially lose a lot of the dirt from the hem; and, of course, professionally cleaning would make a difference too. Professional cleaning is approximately £150 from reputable cleaners experienced in bridal gowns; and I have factored this consideration into the price I am asking for the dress.
The dress will be supplied in the original dress cover and with spare buttons.
So, for the details:
I wore shoes with a heel height of 8.9cm and the dress was made to measure so that the hem skimmed the floor as I walked in the shoes.
The skirt starts just above the natural waistline, making it extremely comfortable and would also fit larger waist/hips. It skims the floor at the front, longer at the back. Corset design makes the fit around the rib cage adjustable.
*Arm Length (shoulder to wrist) – 60cm
*Circumference of arm at top closest to arm hole – 18cm
*Length of skirt (from sash to hem) – 120cm
*Length of bodice (from shoulder to skirt) – 40cm
*Waist (measured at the front l-r) – 40cm
*All measurements approx.
Thank you for taking the time to look. Regardless of your decision on this dress, have the most amazing wedding day and enjoy a lifetime of happiness ahead.
