The Dress
This beautiful dress from Galia Lahav is from the Gala Collection No. 6, Spring 2019. I was the very first bride to try on the sample size at the bridal salon where I purchased this dress (in October 2018), and by the time I received it, I was still the only bride to have ordered it. This style, G103, is still BRAND new and perfectly merges a timeless silhouette with more modern, on trend details like the illusion neckline, sweetheart style bust, boning structure, and illusion back detail. This dress was only worn once, and is in immaculate condition.
THE DESIGNER:
Galia Lahav is an Israeli designer, and all dresses are made to order in Israel. Galia Lahav bridal gowns are world-renowned for their delicate embroidery, dramatic trains, and exquisite backs. The style of gowns can be described as glamorous, detailed, and lavish, and it is rare to find two dresses exactly alike. In the United States, Galia Lahav bridal gowns are only sold at 25 retailers.
THE DRESS:
This is an elaborate lace a-line dress with a sheer corset top (lined with ivory, with boning detail still visible) and a sheer back (adorned with large floral appliques). The fabric is embroidered in light silver and ivory flowers and studded with crystals and pearls. A long train extends down the back of the dress.
CLEANING:
This dress has been dry cleaned and repaired (loose beading only!) by a member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists. As such, the cleaning method was licensed to use the safest and most effective methods for cleaning and restoration. All cleaning was done on-site, and all finishing was completed by hand. The cleaning comes with a guarantee, that this dress may be brought to any member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists (in more than 500 cities around the world), and it will be inspected and pressed at no charge.
Alterations
This dress was altered to be lined in the front (the original dress is see-through) -- an ivory lining from Galia Lahav was added at the time the dress was made. At the time it was made, the dress was also requested to have minimal pleating at the sides (so as to not make the skirt too full and keep a more A-line shape), and extra of the lace, flowered fabric was sent from the designer with the dress and was added to the front of the dress to conceal boning right along the bust line.
After receiving the dress, a bustle was added by a seamstress at the bridal salon. The bustle has three layers: at the underlining, at the tulle, and for the lace exterior layer. Layer 1 (lining) has 7 layers and 7 rings. Layer 2 (tulle) has 8 buttons and loops. Layer 3 (lace outer layer) has 5 buttons and 9 loops.
Additionally, the bust area was taken in (I wear a 34D), and the length was shortened only in the front (I am 5'6" and it was shortened to trail just past the ground in the front with flat shoes). A nude-colored body suit inside was made for an impossibly short torso, so it was cut between the legs to lie flat and still be able to create that "see-through" look through the lower half of the back of the dress. And lastly, a floral decal from the original designer fabric pieces was added to cover the exposed zipper at the back of the dress.
