The Dress

A timeless Monique Lhuillier Laurence gown. This is a 'modified trumpet' - its lines are softer than a true trumpet gown. It has a sweetheart neckline and mid-low back. I chose this gown as it's more classic and less 'va va voom' than a Vera Wang, but still very form fitting and extremely figure-flattering. It truly is perfect for a variety of venues. I wore mine to my early summer wedding at The New York Botanical Garden, where our theme was The Secret Garden. I purchased the gown at the flagship Monique Lhuillier boutique on 71st Street in Manhattan, and have all original receipts and record of measurements.

The gown is in a beautiful "silk white" which is an ML signature soft white that is somewhere between white and ivory, and universally flattering on all skintones. The fabric is a Chantilly lace and organza over a silk underlay. The upper bodice of the gown is covered in Chantilly lace appliques which give a slightly more three dimensional effect on the bodice, and gradually the lace becomes flush toward the skirt of the gown. There are two silk underlays to pick from - one in Blush, and one in a coordinating Silk White. This underlay is Silk White. When I purchased it it looked more classic and was also more flattering on my relatively fair/cool skin and blonde hair.

I spent $900 to have the gown cleaned and preserved by J. Scheer & Co. Monique Lhuillier's recommended vendor for gown cleaning and preservation. There were no stains or tears even prior to cleaning. The gown and veil are still in J. Scheer's museum-quality preservation packaging, which includes acid-free paper so as to prevent yellowing. I have the receipt from J. Scheer.

Please note that returns would compromise the quality and cleanliness of the gown, and with the significant expense of cleaning the gown again I'm really hesitant to accept returns. Alterations

I had basic alterations done to this gown. Prior to alterations the gown was an ML size 6, which is more like a street size 2. At the time, I was more of a 0 on top and a 2 on the bottom, 5'5" and 115 lbs. with an hourglass figure and small waist. The measurements are listed. I paid $400 extra to customize the gown and add buttons covered in the same lace as the gown.
